Dr. Zachary Adler is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in the operative
and non-operative treatment of acute orthopedic injuries and conditions
including: fractures, sprains, strains, soft tissue injuries, and infections.
He grew up in Colorado and after completing his training, worked for two
years as an Assistant Professor in Orthopedic Oncology at Oregon Health
and Sciences University in Portland, Oregon. After two years of academic
medicine, Dr. Adler moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico to pursue his passion
in co-creating and co-developing a hospital based acute care orthopedic
service line for Christus St. Vincent Regional Medical Center with his
partner Dr. Corey Lieber.
Dr.’s Adler and Lieber joined Newport Orthopedic Institute in December
2014 and bring with them a vision for a systems-based method of providing
a comprehensive, specialized, and team-based approach to orthopedic injury
care at the Newport Orthopedic Institute and the Hoag hospital system.
More recently, their focus has been on redesigning the patient care experience
of their service line based on the principles of patient-centered care
and encouraging the development of a well-informed patient who can participate
in a shared decision making model.
During years of dedicating and designing care for injured orthopedic patients,
Dr’s Adler and Lieber have developed an extensive infrastructure
of decision care pathways and protocols based on best practice guidelines
for both their patients and referring providers. They are currently working
on a project to organize this information into an educational website
for patients and providers and incorporating it into a web-based application
for urgent care centers and emergency departments in Orange County.
In his spare time, Dr. Adler enjoys skiing, riding his bike, and spending
time with his wife, Andrea Adler, and their two daughters. He also participates
in various community outreach and volunteer opportunities and is a member
of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons Disaster Response Team.
