Dr. Corey Lieber is an orthopaedic surgeon specializing in the operative
and nonoperative treatment of acute orthopaedic injuries and conditions
including fractures, sprains, strains, soft tissue injuries, and infections.
He joins NOI after relocating to Orange County in December 2014 from Santa
Fe, New Mexico, where he partnered with Dr. Zachary Adler to develop a
hospital-based acute care orthopaedic service line for Christus St. Vincent
Regional Medical Center.
In relocating to Orange County, Dr. Lieber brings with him a vision for
a systems-based method of providing a comprehensive, specialized, and
team-based approach to orthopaedic injury care at the Newport Orthopaedic
Institute and Hoag hospital system. More recently, his focus has been
on redesigning the patient care experience of his service line based on
the principles of patient-centered care and encouraging the development
of a well-informed patient who can participate in a shared decision making model.
During years of dedicating and designing care for injured orthopaedic patients,
Drs. Lieber and Adler have developed an extensive infrastructure of decision
care pathways and protocols based on best practice guidelines for both
their patients and referring providers. They are currently working on
a project to organize this information into an educational website for
patients and providers and incorporating it into a web-based application
for urgent care centers and emergency departments in Orange County.
In his spare time, Dr. Lieber enjoys family life and traveling with his
wife Vanessa Kitzis, a critical care physician, and his two young sons.
He also enjoys participating in various community outreach and volunteer
opportunities including teaching local elementary school students about
bone health and as a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeon’s
Disaster Response Team.
