Nicholas C. Yaru, M.D. is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing
in sports medicine and total hip and total knee replacement. Dr. Yaru
has been on staff at Hoag Hospital since 1986 and has served as a Department
Chairman in Orthopedics for a two-year term.
Dr. Yaru graduated from Chicago Medical School and served his Internship
and Residency at the University of California San Diego. Dr. Yaru was
Chief Resident during his final year of Residency and was awarded the
McCoy Award as Outstanding Resident in 1986. Dr. Yaru also had a one-year
orthopedic research fellowship in San Diego in 1983. After graduation
Dr. Yaru did a one-year fellowship in knee surgery and sports medicine
at the University of California San Diego, in conjunction with Kaiser
Hospital San Diego.

journals pertaining to orthopedic surgery.”
Dr. Yaru has served as Resident Physician for the San Diego Chargers in
1982 and as team physician for the Palomar College football team in San Diego.
In addition, Dr. Yaru has served two terms on the Board of Directors of
the Hoag Hospital 552 Club. During his second term he was treasurer of
the Hoag Hospital 552 Club.
